Abstract
404,935. Motor cores. BURROUGHS ADDING MACHINE CO., 6071, 2nd Boulevard, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. June 20, 1932, No. 17435. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1931. [Class 35.] Mounting rotors.-The field member of a series universal motor comprises independent groups of laminµ spaced apart by non-magnetic material, two pole-pieces per group being provided and the alternate pole-pieces having the same polarity. In the form shown, the three sets of stator laminae 10, 11, 12 are riveted to non-magnetic rings 18, 19 which are supported on the frame 50 of the driven machine by bolts 51 which also secure the insulating end-cap 52. The armature consists of annular laminµ 30 secured by insulation 32 which supports the end windings 36 and grips the roughened portion 34 of the shaft 33 of the driven machine, motor bearings thereby being eliminated. The field coils 20 are preferably of the loose skein type.
