Abstract
525,026. Alternating- current motors. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Feb: 11, 1939, No. 4580. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1938. [Class 35] A small puwer single-phase condenser type induction motor with salient laminated poles has removable solid pole-shoes, the sides of which located in the direction of the rotor shaft extend obliquely with respect to this shaft. The overall span of the pole-shoes may be about two thirds of the pole pitch. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the motor has a condenser 11 in series with the winding of two poles and each pole has a polepiece 5 with oblique sides so that the pole-pieces overlap around the periphery of the rotor, as in Fig. 3. The slots between the pole-shoes may be soldered up with copper or other non-magnetic material thus giving an annular unit which may be clamped between the poles without other means of attachment. The pole-pieces may be formed from a ring with oblique slots, as shown in Fig. 5, or rows of holes or grooves. In a modification, in place of separate pole-pieces an undivided magnetic ring rests against the poles. The rotor may be of the squirrel cage type, and the pole-pieces may be larger in the direction of rotor axis than the laminated poles.
