[Class 110 (ii).] A rotary engine having a piston a secured to a rotating disc and moving in a working chamber of rectangular or polygonal cross section is fitted with two or more piston-rings f, g, h, which are located in a groove in the piston. The ring f is pressed against the sides c, d, by springs k, l, and the ring g against the sides b, e, by similar springs. Each ring may bear on one side only, or may be inserted in a separate groove. The springs may vary in design and may be made of cast iron.
