Abstract
383,242. Combined buffing and drawgear for railway &c. vehicles. KRUPP AKT.-GES., F., Essen, Germany. July 25, 1932, No. 20920. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1931. [Class 103 (v).] In an automatic central buffer coupling for railway &c. vehicles of the kind in which the coupler-heads B<1>, B<2> are provided with guide members B<1>, B<2> for aligning purposes, and in which additional surfaces co-operating with the members B<1>, B<2> are provided to increase the vertical range of action of the latter, these additional surfaces are in the form of pyramidal recesses D .. G designed to prevent any jamming of the heads when the coupling is effected on a curve. As shown in Fig. 8, which represents one limiting position of the coupler-heads A<1>, A<2>, the tip of the member B<2> engages the co-operating recess near its apex E<1>, which lies on the inclined face of the coupler-head. Preferably one edge F, G of the base of the pyramid, as shown in Fig. 7, lies at right-angles to the longitudinal axis of the coupler.
