Combined buffer and draw-gear. - In draft. gear for railway vehicles in which the draw-bar 5 is connected with the draft yoke 6 by a key 7 passing transversely through the yoke and through a slot 9 in the draw.bar, the end wall of the slot provides two bearing faces a, b for the key which are disposed at an angle to each other. The other wall of the slot may also be provided with similar hearing surfaces diagonally opposed. The surface a is at right angles to the centre line of the draw-bar 5 and the surface b is at right angles to the line through the point of attach. ment of the transition coupling means which is spaced laterally of the centre line through the coupler head. When the automatic coupling is in use the draft and thrust are taken through the surfaces a and when the transition coupling is in use the pull is taken on the rear surface b.
