Abstract

795,088. Draught gear. NATIONAL MALLEABLE & STEEL CASTINGS CO. June 6, 1956 [June 20, 1955], No. 17458/56. Class 103(5) A coupler shank 16 has a part spherical end 46 for complementary engagement with the front follower 26 and is also provided with chamfered faces 47, 48, 49 which make full surface contact with complementary surfaces 70, 74, 72 on the follower 26 when the coupler is at the limit of its vertical angling. Thus in buff the line of thrust is in the direction of the arrow B thereby obviating the tendency of a laden car lifting a coupled unladen car off its truck.
