Abstract

365,271. Cable joints. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Dec. 16, 1930, No. 37943. Convention date, March 7. [Classes 36 and 38 (i).] To prevent escape of oil during the jointing of two lengths of oil-filled multicore cable, each of the cable ends to be connected is provided with a cap 4 formed with tubular attachments 14 for the reception of the individual cores 12 and adapted to be secured in oil-tight manner to both the cable sheath 2 and the individual cores. The cap 4 is formed with an aperture 6 which, during the jointing of the cable ends is closed by a plug 7, but which is opened to allow oil communication between the two cable lengths after the completion of the joint and the surrounding thereof with a casing 8. To facilitate the removal of the plug 7, a flexible stem 9 which is led out through a hole 10 in the casing 8 may be attached to the plug.
