[Class 38 (i).] Earth - continuity couplings; armouring, sheathing, or covering, connection of.-A watertight bonded connection between a sheathed cable e and a casing d is made by means of an outer cone a that clamps a tapered metal bush b and a resilient bush c of rubber &c. The bush b is split and makes electrical connection from the sheathing e through the cone a to the casing d. In the case of an armoured cable the armouring is gripped between the bush band cone a. For multicore cables the metal bush has a central portion extending between the cores and is grooved or bored to receive the cores. The rubber bush may have a central projection between the cores and the cable openings are sealed by pads of rubber that can be cut off to open as many holes as required for the cable to be connected.
