Abstract
361,274. Turning piston rings. ABRAMSON, A., 87, Fochova, Prague. July 9, 1931, No. 19801. Convention date, July 17, 1930. [Class 83 (iii).] Chucks ; mandrels.-Apparatus for turning piston rings, in which the rings are held between a pair of clamping discs, may be arranged for turning both the inner and outer diameters of the rings. The rings are forced together and clamped centrally of their width between the flanged end-pieces 2, 3 by bolts 4, Fig. 1; the disc 2 has a spigot by which it may be centralized against the surface plate 6 of a lathe and is clamped thereto, by the threaded cap 5, for turning the inside diameters of the rings. On the completion of the inside turning operation, piston rings and clamping pieces, still securely held together by the bolts 4, are reversed and slid on to a mandrel 7, Fig. 2, to which they are secured by a bolt 8, the outside diameters may then be turned after removing the bolts 4.
