510,650. Making tubes BUDERUS'SCHE EISENWERKE. Oct. 6. 1938, No. 29009. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1937. [Classes 83 (i), 83 (ii), and 83 (iv)] A tube having a flange at each end is made by casting one having a flange at one end in a centrifugal mould and then securing a flange at the other end by screwing, shrinking, weld. ing &c. The mould for casting the tube is of metal, cooled externally by water, and shaped internally to the form of the required tube, and flange, the outer face of the flange being formed by a disc 3 shaped at 10 to produce the desired packing grooves &c. and at 13 to receive cores 9 to form bolt holes in the flange if desired. The disc is held in place by a ring 6 and wedges 4. The mould may be formed with an enlargement 11 so that, when worn, it can be turned internally, as indicated in broken lines at 12, and then be used for casting socket pipes.
