262,279. Glacier Metal Co., Ltd., and Melhuish, M. Dec. 23, 1925. Work-holders; boring. - Bearings in halves are mounted for accurate machining in a two jawed chuck A, the flanges E of a half bearing D resting on hardened steel strips C secured on brackets B on the chuck the jaw F then being screwed down to secure that half in position; the lower bearing bearing G is similarly secured by the jaw I but it is located a little in advance of the top half bearing so that its flanges G<1> do not abut against the strips C but pass into slots H therein so that the halves abut against each other. The halves are then drilled together, disconnected, clamped on a mandrel for facing the ends, then clamped on another mandrel for machining the outside diameter. The bearings may have lugs only instead of flanges at each end.
