Abstract
344,478. Screw propellers. GREEN, C. J., Upper Parklands, Kabete Road, Nairobi, Kenya. Nov. 8, 1929, No. 34167. [Class 114.] A screw propeller is formed with a number of fixed blades of aerofoil section disposed radially within two or more concentric annular frames connected to the hub by arms or stays, the leading edges of the blades coinciding with the leading edges of the rings whilst the trailing edges terminate short of the trailing edges of the rings. Aerofoil sectioned blades d are fixed between an inner ring a and an outer ring b, and when the blades are formed in two parts d<1>, d<2> there is an intermediate ring c. The leading edges of the vanes d coincide with the leading edges f of the rings a, b, c but the trailing edges g end short of the trailing edges h. The rings are stayed to the boss k by leading and centre stays j, j<1> these being screwed into the boss at one end and secured by lock-nuts l to the rings. Secondary stays m may be provided between the rings.
