Abstract
439,783. Steam turbines. AKTIEBOLAGET SPONTAN, 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm. April 30, 1935, No. 12888. Convention date, May 3, 1934. [Class 110 (iii)] In a turbine in which the blades 16 of the last rotating rim are formed of sheet metal strips assuming catenary curves, and having their ends secured to carrier rings 19, at least one ring is supported by spokes 15 between which the fluid flows to the blades. The application to the L.P. stage of an axial flow turbine 10 is shown, the blades 16 being carried by drums 21, 22, the latter of which has spokes 15. The arrangement of the drums may be modified, and the H.P. stage may be of the double flow type, the blading 16 being common to the two sections. The H.P. stage may be of the radial flow type, and an axial flow stage may be arranged between it and the L.P. blading 16. The spokes 15 may be integral with the rims or may be secured thereto by a clamping or rolling process. The ends 73, Fig. 16, of the blades are ribbed and secured in grooves in the rims by grooved filling pieces 76. The exhaust of the turbine may be divided into two streams passing to separate condensers. Specifications 317,485, [Class 110 (iii)], and 380,590, are referred to.
