Abstract
543,177. Screw propellers. RATIE, P. J. P. July 20, 1939, Nos. 21155 and 21156. Convention dates, July 21, 1938 and Jan. 27, 1939. [Class 114] In a screw propeller in which the root 1 of a wooden blade has trapezoidal projections 5 to engage corresponding recesses in a metal bushing 3 on the propeller hub, the clearances d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP>, d<SP>3</SP> between the inclined flanks of the projections and recesses increase outwardly from the boss. These clearances may be uniform radially or increase from the interior to the exterior of the root. The clearances f<SP>1</SP>, f<SP>2</SP>, f<SP>3</SP> at the bottoms of the projections also may increase outwardly from the boss. The bushing 3 may be made in one or more parts, and it may be frustum shaped and be held by a screwed ring in a similarly shaped propeller hub stem. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also clearances such as d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP>, d<SP>3</SP> which are all of the same dimensions. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
