Abstract
482,989. Non-return valves. RICHARDSON, M. F. May 11, 1937, No. 13446. [Class 135] A valve comprises a ported seat 1, a valve disc 16 and a spider-like stop-structure 9. The stop has a stern 7 for attachment to the seat, the valve spring 29 being arranged about the stern. The stop structure also comprises radiating portions 24 of inverted U-shape, which merge at their outer ends into an annular guard ring 25, and at their inner ends into tapering ribs 28 forming an abutment shoulder for securing the stop to the seat, thus providing guide means for the valve disc, whereby a streamlined flow is obtained as indicated by the arrows. As shown, the ribs 28 are formed partly on a detachable guide member 26, the arms of which are aligned with the ribs. In a modified form, the guide member is solid with the spider.
