Abstract

342,907. Bolt and latch fastenings. HEDGES, A. E., Kingston, Station Road, Taunton, Somerset. Feb. 13, 1930, No. 4890. [Class 44.] The usual latches or bolts of motorvehicle doors are locked by supplementary means, all simultaneously operated by keyactuated means. A barrel lock 16, Fig. 2, rotates a spindle 12 to which is keyed a cam disc 12<a> retained by a spring-pressed plunger and keyed to a chain or Bowden-cable 14. This cable passes through a steel tube 28 to the opposite side of the vehicle, and on each side actuates a bell-crank lever or a slide 27 so as to lock the latches or bolts. The locking is effected by lugs 26<a>, Fig. 7, on the slide which engage slots 25 or projections on the nose 5 of the latch, or engage behind a rear extension 36 of the latch-bolt. The discs 12<a> may also be directly operated by an interior handle.
