Abstract
444,994. Door fastenings. DUBOIS, R., 34, Kearsley Road, Sheffield. June 4, 1935, No. 16033. [Class 44] [See also Group XXXII] In order to permit access to the front or rear portion of an aeroplane or a vehicle such as a motor-car or road van, a pair of overlapping sliding doors B are provided each having locking members F which when withdrawn against stops (not shown), from locking engagement with recesses A2 serve to guide the door by sliding in grooves A1 in the upper and lower parts of the doorway. Each member F is pivotally connected by links Fl to the door and by links E3 to a bar E slidable in guides E2 and toothed at one end to engage a toothed wheel or segment D which is also engaged by the upper toothed end of a vertically sliding operating-bar H which is also toothed at its lower end to engage a second toothed wheel adapted to operate a lower locking member. Rotation of a pinion C2 by means outside and/or inside the car moves the bar H which rotates the toothed wheels and moves the bars E and links F1, E3 to press the members F into the recesses A2 or to retract the members. A tension spring C6 connecting a lug C5 on the bar H with a projection C4 on the door and/or a spring F2 connecting each member F with the door tend to prevent rattle of the parts. A key-operated lock may be fitted to the door so as to act, for example on the rod H.
