Abstract

263,146. Dubos, J. L. Dec. 15, 1925, [Convention date]. Hoods.-In road vehicles of the kind provided with a roof opening closable by a flexible covering adapted to be withdrawn from a recess, the covering is guided by means of suitably reinforced edges in ducts provided on the permanent roof, and the flexible covering is adapted to be drawn in a flat unrolled condition into a recess which extends under the rear seats of the vehicle. As shown, the flexible covering 1 is guided by means of its edges, suitably reinforced by metal strips 3 or cables in ducts 4, and is provided with a suitably-shaped bar 2 adapted to be connected to operating chains 6 carried by sprockets 7, 8, the sprockets 8 being mounted on a transverse shaft operated by gear by means of a handle 12 or other means under mechanical or electrical control. The flexible covering 1 is adapted to be withdrawn in an unrolled condition into a recess 13 at the rear of the vehicle, or, in a modification, in a folded position into a recess at the rear of the roof. In a further modifica. tion, the flexible covering 1 may be in two parts housed in recesses at the backs of the front seat and rear seats respectively and to cover the front and rear portions of the roof.
