Abstract
184,709. Schachenmeier, W. Sept. 8, 1921. Bridges.-Wind bracing for suspension and other bridges comprises continuous cables a anchored to the main abutments of the bridge and extending over and projecting beyond the spans. The cables are held in position by means of cross bars b and members f, and can be positioned during the construction of the bridge by mounting the cross-bars b on rollers m, n, Fig. 5, and forcing them outwards by struts k, l; the latter can be made to take up the dead load of the bridge by lowering the supporting-pylons h, i. Suspension members g support the cables.
