Abstract

Air, supplying.-Air for combustion is supplied to coke-ovens by hollow boxes of refractory material having perforations 2 in one face and adapted to be fitted to the walls of the oven chamber 16 between the outlet flues 17 and the grate. Air is supplied by valves 4 and passages 5 in the walls. The inner ends of the holes 2, which are preferably inclined towards the outlet flues, may be enlarged and the air may be supplied under pressure.
