Abstract

236,780. Fairbrother, H., (Jackson Research Corporation). Oct. 13, 1924. Retort furnaces. - A retort 1 is heated by annular chambers 5 in which a mixture of gas and air from pipes 6, 8 is burned, the temperature of each chamber being separately regulated and the combustion products escaping through openings 11 in ribs 4. A temperature of about 800‹ C. is maintained in the upper part and 1600‹ C. in the lower part.
