Abstract

169,920. Groom, W. T. Nov. 29, 1920. Joints with packing wrapped by rotating sleeve; joints with yielding outer part compressed.-In a hose clip of the kind in which a packing-tape is threaded through a perforated sleeve which is then rotated to compress the packing between the sleeve and the joint, the sleeve is provided with an inclined slot 3a, Fig. 14, and is used with a metal packing tape. The interior of the sleeve is provided with a tapered groove 3b to form a guide for the packing tape. The sleeve may have a flange at one end, and its exterior is preferably milled or shaped for engagement with a spanner. Fig. 1 shows a flexible hose 1 compressed on to a hard spigot 2 by the brass &c. packing strip 4 secured by rotation of the sleeve 3. The spigot may be formed with a groove 6, Fig. 8, into which the hose is compressed.
