Abstract
366,093. Pipe joints. BROWN & TAWSE TUBES, Ltd. and SLACK, J. E., 3, London Wall Buildings, London. Oct. 29, 1930, No. 32518. [Class 99 (i).] A pipe joint comprises loose flanges b, c which engage shoulders e on the pipes and are secured by bolts, the flanges having annular projections h between their inner edge and the bolt-holes d to enclose and compress the packing material m, the projections having sharp edges j to cut away surplus packing. In a modification one flange only is provided with a projection, the sharp edge of which is forced into an annular recess in the other flange. The inner face of the projection may be inclined to or parallel with the axis of the pipes. A shoulder k on the flange engages a shoulder f on the pipe, and both shoulders may be interrupted at intervals so that the flange may be slipped over the pipe.
