Abstract

165,320. Bourne, T. F. June 9, 1920. Starting.-Priming fuel is supplied to a vertical part 2<a> of the induction pipe through a cock 10 and a pipe 9 supplied by gravity from a fuel receptacle 5 which supplies the carburettor 3 by gravity through a pipe 5. In the form shown, an arm on the cock 10 is connected to a lever 22 on the dash-board, the cock being normally closed by a spring. The receptacle 5 has an inner vessel 30 connected by a pipe 7 to a fuel tank and by a pipe 8 to the induction manifold 2. A float-controlled lever 35 alternately opens a valve 25 leading to the suction pipe 8 and a valve 27 leading to the atmosphere, so that fuel is alternately drawn into the vessel 30 and allowed to escape through a valve 38 to the outer receptacle 5.
