Abstract
208,087. Jones, F. J. S. May 28, 1923. Addition to 152,880. Vacuum apparatus.- In apparatus of the type described in the parent Specification, the inner tank 2 is suspended by weighted levers 7 instead of a spring, and has air pipes associated with a sealed chamber which are closed when the liquid reaches a predetermined level to retain the vacuum in the inner tank. The tank 2 is carried by a tube 4 which has a hemispherical, airinlet valve 5 at the top mounted beneath the suction valve 10, a weighted disc valve 23 at the bottom, ports 19, and a chamber 21 with pipes 20, 22, and 25 communicating with the top of the tank 2 and the top and bottom of the tube 4 respectively. The. valve 23 also normally closes the pipe 25. The tank movement is limited by spring buffers 28 and abutments 27. In the up position of the tank, valve 10 is opened and the tube 4 and tank 2 supplied with fuel until the the weight overcomes the levers 7 and the tank falls. The vacuum is then broken, valve 23 opens, and the fuel passes to the carburettor. Should the fuel in tank 1 and pipe 5 rise to cover the end of the pipe 20, the vacuum in tank 2 and the liquid there:n is retained until the fuel-level falls.
