Abstract

147,230. Otto & Co., Dr. C. Aug. 15, 1916, [Convention date]. Coke ovens.-In a vertieal-flued coke oven having flues connected in pairs and regenerators running longitudinally beneath the oven chambers, the air is always admitted to the regenerators at the side of the bench and the waste gases are exhausted to the main flue at the other side. Beneath each oven are two regenerator chambers, each divided into compartments 7 correspending in number with the pairs of flues 3, 4, and beneath each regenerator chamber is a flue 9 having at one end an air-inlet valve 11, and at the other a connexion through a reversing- valve 13 with a main flue 15. To simplify the waste-gas reversing-arrangements the flue 15 may be duplicated, half of the regenerators being connected to one flue and half to the other, and the two flues being connected to the chimney through a single reversing-valve.
