Abstract
402,549. Coke ovens. STILL, C., Recklinghauson, Westphalia, Germany. Aug. 15, 1932, No. 22827. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1931. [Class 51 (ii).] In a coke-oven battery having regenerator tunnels running longitudinally thereof, the tunnels and the foundation channels for the supply of air and exhaust of waste gases are divided by transverse partitions into sections each connected to a small group of say, four ovens, which can be cut out of action independently of the other, groups. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, which is a section through the foundation flues of a battery having eight regenerator tunnels, the two outer pairs serving normally for preheating lean gas and the inner pairs for air, the inner pairs are connected to the air supply and waste gas mains k through dampered channels p, q, while the outer pairs are subdivided into as many compartments as there are heating-walls, and these compartments are connected to the mains k through horizontal flues and elbow fittings.
