Abstract

1464514 Diazotype materials OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN N V 23 May 1975 [29 May 1974] 22845/75 Heading G2C A diazotype material comprises a paper support, a sealing layer of polyvinyl acetate or a styrene/ butadiene copolymer and a light-sensitive layer of at most 8 g./square metre containing a diazonium compound, polyvinyl alcohol which is at least 75% hydrolyzed and starch, the weight ratio of polyvinyl alcohol to starch being 1:5 to 20. The polyvinyl acetate may be cross-linked and the sealing layer may contain a filler such as clay, kaolin, silica, talc or oxides of Ti, Zn, or Al. There may be a backing layer on the support which may be of the same composition as the sealing layer. Generally one-component diazotype materials are produced and these are developed with a small amount of developer containing acid and coupler to produce a dry copy as set out in Specification 1417221. However, two-component diazotype materials may be used and these are developed with triethanolamine, oleic acid and diethyleneglycol monomethyl ether.
