Abstract
145,118. Buonocore, R., and Capaldo, F. March 19, 1919. Valves valve-gear.- An auxiliary piston 2 in the cylinder head having a through passage 41 controls a port 4 serving for both inlet and exhaust, and is moved in towards the working piston during the exhaust stroke to expel products from the combustion space, and is stationary during the compression and working periods in its outer position with the port 4 closed. Inlet and exhaust from the port 4 are controlled by a rotary valve 6, and a terminal exhaust port 5 is controlled by a rotary valve 12 on the same shaft, The auxiliary piston 2 is worked from a crank 14 on the spindle of the rotary valve by links 15, 16, 17, as shown in Fig. 1, the link 16 being pivoted at a about a fixed centre. In a modification, the rotary valves 6, 12 are replaced by piston valves, and tne piston 2 is worked from a cross-head moving in a curved guide.
