Valves; valve-gear.-In a four-stroke-cycle engine, four reciprocating cylinders a, b, c. d, which slide over fixed heads A, B, C, D, are connected by a single rod to a crank shaft (not shown). The admission to each working space is controlled by a cam-actuated piston valve 25 mounted in a fixed head, the valve controlling a port 22 leading from a supply passage 20, and a port 24 opening into a combustion space. The combustion products exhaust through the port 24 to the space behind the valve.
