Abstract
141,585. Law, J. W. July 25, 1919. Actuating pumps by hand or foot power.-To dispense with the toggle arrangement that is sometimes used for effecting relative movement of the piston and cylinder in pumps primarily intended for inflating pneumatic tyres, but applicable also for exhaustion purposes, the cylinder A, Fig. 1, is moved over the fixed piston and pistonrod B by the depression of the curved lever C acting against the roller D. The air under pressure is passed through the hollow rod to the outlet b. Return of the parts is secured by a spring. In the modification, Fig. 4, the cylinder is shown as stationary and the piston and rod movable, guide-rollers a.' within the frame E being provided. In further modifications, the curved lever may be pivoted to the frame and actuate the piston or cylinder by engaging rollers mounted thereon.
