Abstract
209,083. Podiebrad, B. Dec. 22, 1922, [Convention date]. Piston pumps; actuating pumps by hand and foot power.-A pump comprises two cylinders one of which telescopes on the other, the interiors of the cylinders forming compression spaces in free communication. The Figure shows a foot actuated tyre pump having a fixed cylinder 3 supported by a member 2 carried on. the base plate, and provided with a valved discharge outlet and a gauge. Within this cylinder moves a piston 4 formed with a cup leather and carried by a hollow rod secured to a cylinder 11 sliding on the fixed cylinder 3 which carries an external packing ring 10 by which air is admitted to both cylinders on the suction stroke. The cylinder 11 is guided by an axial rod 14 sliding in a support 15, and a lug 17 engaging a guide rail 16. The pump is actuated by a foot lever with toggle action and spring return. Hand or power actuation may be substituted for actuation by foot.
