Abstract
287,392. ritzpatrick, H. D., (Marquette Tool &; Manufacturing Co.). Aug. 18, 1927. Cupping.-In a drawing-press a crank-reciprocated die 13 co-operates with a stationary die 16 and a work-holder 17 supported by pins 18 on a plate 19 attached to a plunger 24. When the holder 17 is depressed the plunger 24 expels liquid from a cylinder 23 through an adjustable valve 37 and a cylinder 29. The upstroke. of the die 13 raises rods with adjustable cams 81 to compress springs 42 attached to pistons 41 forcing the liquid through flap-valves 33 to raise the piston 24 and the holder 17. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a. stationary piston and movable cylinder are substituted for the parts 29, 41. In a further modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the liquid returns to the cylinder 23 by a separate pipe. The invention may be applied to a double acting press.
