Abstract
499,565. Moulding ceramic plates; mechanical presses. MASCHINENFABRIK VORM. G. DORST AKT.-GES. May 23, 1938, No. 15315. Convention date, Feb. 5. [Class 87 (ii)] The initial and final pressing strokes of the upper die 2 of a toggle-lever press for making ceramic plates &c. are obtained by a single rotation of a crank 3, the lower die 9 being supported on an hydraulic cushion. The crank is connected by a link 4 with the toggle links 5, 6. The lower die 9 is supported by a piston 10 in a cylinder 11 supplied with oil maintained under pressure by a pressure vessel 12. During the initial pressing, the piston 10 is depressed against the pressure in the vessel 12. The die 2 and the piston 10 rise during the de-airing of the material. A cam-worked valve 13 is then closed, and the maximum pressure for the final pressing stroke of the die 2 is determined by a plunger 18 acted upon by a strong adjustable spring 20 and communicating with the cylinder 11. A camoperated filling and ejecting slide 27 and a feed shoot 28 are provided.
