Abstract

190,829. Anthony, M. Dec. 14, 1921. Actuating pumps by hand power.-In an air. pump for tyre inflation &c.. comprising a pair of opposed cylinders with pistons on a common rod actuated by a hand lever, the air is fed from the cylinders through external pipes controlled bv a ball valve to a common nipple. The piston rod is constituted by a tube 7, through holes in which the end 10 of a lever passes, the lever being pivoted on a bracket 9 on the base plate and rocked by a handle 8<a>. The cylinders 2. 3 are fixed to the plate by U-shaped brackets 4, 5 against which the screwed caps 6 of the cylinders abut. Pipes 13, 14 lead the air to a union fitted with a pressure gauge 17 and a nipple 15 controlled by a ball valve. The pump may be fitted on the foot board of a motor car, the lever 8a being detachable to enable the pump to be covered or packed. For garage use, the pump may be mounted on wheels.
