Abstract
1375364 Discharge lamp circuits BLAIR LIGHTING CO Ltd 17 Nov 1971 [12 Dec 1970] 59188/70 Heading H2H A circuit for operating fluorescent, neon or mercury vapour lamps comprises a battery, a transistor 10 which in combination with resistors R1, R2 and transformer 12 forms a relaxation oscillator for applying a high frequency power signal across lamp 15, the transformer core being of iron with between 10 and 50 laminations. Preferably the core comprises 35 E-shaped laminations each having a thickness of about 0À013 inch. The frequency of the current applied to the lamp may be modified by the insertion of a capacitor, or a capacitor and a resistance in series or a capacitor and resistance in series and the former in parallel with a second resistance all in parallel with R 2 . A diode may be placed in an output lead of the transformer secondary. Examples of numbers of windings applied to the transformer are given in the Specification.
