Abstract
1,239,868. Scouring wool. TOYO BOSEKI K.K. 7 Oct., 1969 [28 Dec., 1968], No. 49122/ 69. Heading D1L. Loose wool is scoured by passage through a plurality of groups 3, Fig. 1, of scouring baths 24, Fig. 5, in series each group of baths (Figs. 2 and 10) having a common conveyor net 12 and each bath having a roll 23, a partially-immersed spring-loaded roll 22 having a surface of elastic material and forming a pressure nip with roll 23 above the surface of the liquid, a guide member 28, liquid showering means 49 and 50, baffle plate 34, liquid overflow channel 37 and discharge outlet 32 for sand, etc. Showering means 49 has an overflow 53 which supplies liquid directly to roll 22. The first bath of the series may have twin sand discharge outlets (Figs. 7B and 8). The wool and scouring liquid may pass through the series of units countercurrently.
