1317747 Carding machines J D HOLLINGSWORTH 15 July 1970 [23 Oct 1969] 34326/70 Heading DIN A carding machine comprises a feed plate 17 adjacent the carding surface of a main cylinder, the nose portion of the plate guiding the fibres onto the carding surface of the main cylinder in cooperation with a feed roll 16 which is disposed clear of the carding surface. As shown, the carding machine has at least one stationary carding surface 13 adjacent at least 75% of the pheriphery of the main cylinder. The feed means 15 and doffer 20 are positioned adjacent the area not covered by the carding surface. The spacing of the teeth on the carding surface 13 may gradually decrease from the feed to the doffer. The spacing of the carding surface 13 from the main cylinder may decrease from the feed to the doffer.
