Abstract

1,050,832. Forming fibre webs. BIRFIELD ENGINEERING Ltd. May 20, 1964 [May 31, 1963], No. 21832/63. Heading D1N. Apparatus for forming fibre webs of the kind in which a foraminous member is arranged to move across the mouth of a duct through which air is drawn or blown has the lips of the duct mouth provided with rollers which engage the surface of the foraminout member to form a seal. Where the foraminous member is an endless perforated belt, as 22, the belt is led over two sealing rollers 30, 31 that are driven by gear mechanism, preferably at the same speed as the belt. Sealing strips are mounted to have wiping contact with the rollers 30, 31 to ensure the effectiveness of the air seal and sealing strips may be mounted along the edges of the belt. An arrangement of sealing rollers within a rotary perforated condensing drum is described (Fig. 6, not shown).
