[Also in Division F4] Apparatus for drying leather sheets comprises a housing 1 within which the sheets are conveyed on an endless band 6 in contact with and at the same peripheral speed as an internally heated rotary drum 3 and a vacuum, generated by means 4, is maintained in the housing by a cylindrical casing 2 about the drum between the band and housing. A spring-urged elastic seal is located between the casing and the drum in correspondence with an opening 2<SP>1</SP> in the casing at which the drum appears, the seal being formed by a frame of a single piece of resilient synthetic material applied at its upper edge against the edges of the casing which are bent towards the drum and at its lower edge against the surface of the drum.
