Abstract

1283291 Removing dust in industrial processes SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN AB 6 Feb 1970 [14 Feb 1969] 5832/70 Heading F4X Dust on a web 1 of material (e.g. paper) moving in a direction 1a, is removed by simultaneously blowing-on and sucking-off air adjacent the web from a surface 2 parallel to and spaced from the web, the dust dislodging and removal means comprising at least one row of openings 3 in said surface 2 adapted to direct jets of air on to the web surface in directions substantially parallel to the direction of motion of the web, in order to dislodge the dust &c. which is thereafter sucked away through a gap 5 extending parallel with the row or rows of openings. As shown, there are two of the suction gaps 5 arranged one on each side of the blow openings 3 which are disposed in three rows, the outermost rows being adapted to direct air streams in opposite directions as shown by the arrows, and the centre row directing air streams more directly on to the web surface so as to dislodge dust therefrom. The outer walls 6 bounding the suction gaps 5 are adjustable in height so as to vary the effect of the suction gaps. Bevels 2a are said to facilitate deflection of the air and entrained dust into the suction gaps.
