Abstract

1,017,788. Drying felts. RICE BARTON CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1964 [Dec. 13, 1963], No. 50909/64. Heading F4G. Apparatus for drying papermakers' felts comprises rolls 12, 14, Fig. 1, having grooves 37 about their peripheries which are rotatably mounted on shafts 20, 22 with a common axis carried by supports 24, 16 respectively, air under pressure passing from a manifold 32, Fig. 3, through apertures 34 into a chamber 36 adjacent that part of the rolls not in surface contact with the felt 10 as it passes about the rolls at sufficient speed both to centrifuge off moisture therein and also to allow air to pass up the grooves adjacent the chamber 36 and therealong to pass outwardly through the felt. The chamber 36 is formed by sealing strips 38 and deckle seals 40 and a collecting pan 50 with a drain 52 is mounted about the apparatus.
