Abstract

Cathode pour une source d'électrons comprenant une extrémité en matière émettant des électrons, un filament qui maintient l'extrémité émettrice, et un agglomérant qui lie l'extrémité émettrice au filament, le filament et l'agglomérant étant faits en carbone vitreux. La cathode selon la présente invention est produite en utilisant une résine thermo-durcissable de forme prédéterminée comme matériau de départ du filament, en fixant l'extrémité émettrice à une position prédéterminée de la résine thermo-durcissable avec un agent adhésif en résine thermo-durcissable brute, et en chauffant l'assemblage résultant dans une atmosphère non oxydante pour carboniser les parties résineuses. Cette cathode est de construction très simple. En outre, l'adhésion entre le filament et l'extrémité émettrice est excellente, et l'extrémité émettrice peut être chauffée à des températures élevées supérieures à 2000 degrés C en provoquant des courants dans cette cathode.
