Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize electron radiation characteristic by fitting a conductive cathode supporter, which supports a cathode consisting of heated carbide of thermosetting-property resin, to a metallic support electrode through an intermediate supporter including carbon.
CONSTITUTION: Cathode 1 formed by carbide of metal using rare earth elements or borides such as LaB6 is supported by conductive cathode supporter 2 consisting of heated carbide of thermosetting-property resin in the phenol or furan system. Next, this supporter 2 is fixed to intermediate supporter 3 including carbon by using fixactive 4 consisting of the same materials as supporter 2. After that, supporter 3 is caused to adhere to pipe-shaped metallic support electrode 5, and a cathode structure of them is fitted to insulator 6. In this constitution, when electricity is flown from electrode 5 to supporter 2 through supporter 3, supporter 2 and cathode 1 are heated and thermions are emitted from cathode 1. By this constitution, the deformation dependent upon the thermal cycle is not generated, and as a result, electron radiation characteristic is stabilized considerably
