背景技术
在超声成像中,空间分辨率和穿透深度是用于定量评估图像质量的重要参数。通常,在超声中心频率处的波长确定空间分辨率,同时随着频率增大分辨率得到改善。然而,组织衰减通常作为频率的线性函数而增大,甚至在血管内超声成像应用中常用的较高频率(例如,大于40MHz)处变成非线性的。尽管高频率超声促进在近场中的高分辨率成像,但是穿透深度将被损害,从而致使深层组织结构难以识别。
为了增强穿透深度而不损失空间分辨率,通常增大发射电压电平来向成像目标发射更多的发射能量。然而,该方法受限于诊断医学超声的规定和血管内超声成像环境的本质两者,例如,超声换能器元件和成像系统电子设备之间的长线缆长度以及集成有安装换能器的导管的电子器件的小尺寸。
不增大发射电压电平,使用延长的调制发射脉冲串的编码激励方法已经被采用于解决维持穿透深度同时增大操作频率以改善空间分辨率的困境。该方法被称作脉冲压缩。使用脉冲压缩的超声成像装置采用编码长脉冲而不是传统的短脉冲。一种类型的编码激励方法使用格雷码。格雷码是以短脉冲串调制的二进制码。(特定序列的)两种不同的二进制码构成格雷对。当分别对两种码进行解码和相加时,距离旁瓣被完全消除,只留下主瓣。由于格雷码的这种特性,已经对将格雷码利用于超声成像装置中作出了很大努力。
在实践中,由于组织结构内的非线性超声传播、运动伪影和其它非理想因素,并未完全去除距离旁瓣。尤其对于旋转血管内超声,连续的旋转引起用于产生格雷对的相邻A型扫描的轻微的角度错位,从而导致增大的距离旁瓣水平。
发明内容
本发明使用短脉冲串调制的格雷码与多波束方法一起来抑制格雷码旋转血管内超声(IVUS)中的运动伪影。与格雷码一起使用的多波束策略涉及交替地发送互补格雷码并且之后将(大于一的)奇数数量的加权的解码的A型扫描进行相加。
在某些方面中,本发明提供一种用于从旋转血管内超声设备产生图像的方法。所述方法涉及交替地向血管内超声设备中的多个换能器发送互补格雷码。额外地,所述方法涉及从所述换能器接收互补码的回声并执行对所述回声的脉冲压缩。所述脉冲压缩涉及对接收到的回声进行加权并且将奇数的加权回声进行相加,其中,中央回声被给予1.0的权重值并且其邻域的加权和构成格雷对的互补回声。根据所压缩的回声来产生图像,并且可以显示所述图像。本发明的方法可以额外地涉及计算对所述互补码的接收到的回声的卷积。
可以使用在本领域中已知的任何技术来产生格雷码。在某些实施例中,格雷码是通过在所述格雷码上应用双相窗来产生的。所述双相窗可以是双相矩形窗、双相汉明窗、双相汉宁窗和双相巴特利特窗中的一个。
本发明的另一方面是提供一种用于从旋转血管内超声设备产生图像的系统。所述系统包括:处理器;以及与所述处理器耦合的多个波束模块。每个模块包括:用于从所述处理器接收触发信号的接收器;利用格雷码编程的复杂可编程逻辑器件;高电压切换发射器;以及超声换能器。
所述处理器将触发信号交替地发送到所述波束模块,由此使得所述波束模块交替地发送互补格雷码。所述处理器接收所述互补码的回声。所述处理器执行对所述回声的脉冲压缩,包括对接收到的回声进行加权并且将奇数的加权回声进行相加,其中,中央回声被给予1.0的权重值并且其邻域的加权和构成格雷对的互补回声。所述处理器根据所压缩的回声来产生图像。所述处理器耦合到显示设备并使得所述图像被显示。

具体实施方式
本发明总体上涉及用于从旋转血管内超声(IVUS)设备产生图像的系统和方法。本发明的系统和方法对于旋转IVUS尤其有用。在旋转IVUS导管中,具有压电晶体的单个换能器被快速旋转(例如,每分钟大约1800转数),同时换能器以电脉冲间歇地被激励。激励脉冲使得换能器振动,从而发送出一系列发射脉冲。以允许接收回声信号的时间的频率发送发射脉冲。穿插有接收信号的发射脉冲序列提供重建血管的完整横截面图像所需的超声数据。

本发明的系统和方法使用格雷码。在超声中对格雷码的使用例如被描述在美国专利号7,535,797、6,958,042、6,663,565、6,638,227、6,491,631、6,375,618、6,350,240、6,312,384、6,210,332、6,186,949和6,146,328中,将其全部内容通过引用并入本文中。
格雷互补序列是二进制码对,属于称作互补对的信号的大家族,其包括两个相同长度N的码,所述码的自相关函数具有在幅值上相等但是在符号上相反的旁瓣。将其相加得到具有峰值为2N和零旁瓣的复合自相关函数。图1示出了每个长度等于8比特的有符号的一对的旁瓣相消的原理。

图2-3示出了本发明的系统和方法。所述系统包括处理器以及与所述处理器耦合的多个波束模块。每个模块包括用于从处理器接收触发信号的接收器、利用格雷码编程的复杂可编程逻辑器件、高电压切换发射器以及超声换能器。
所述处理器交替地将触发信号发送到波束模块,由此使得所述波束模块交替地发送互补格雷码。在超声传输的第一实例中,换能器阵列的奇数换能器发送对应于第一码序列(格雷码1(G1))的超声脉冲信号。换能器阵列的偶数换能器传送对应于第二码序列(格雷码2(G2))的超声脉冲信号。将超声脉冲信号发送到诸如人体的目标对象和接收从目标对象反射回的信号同时发生。在第一超声传输和第二超声传输中,在换能器阵列相对于对应的格雷码的偶数换能器与奇数换能器之间的切换减少了栅瓣。栅瓣是在以不期望的方式补充超声信号时生成的波束图案的峰值。
所述处理器接收所述互补码的回声。所述处理器执行对所述回声的脉冲压缩,包括对接收到的回声进行加权并且将奇数的加权回声进行相加,其中,中央回声被给予1.0的权重值并且其邻域的加权和构成格雷对的互补回声。例如,图3示出了使用三个波束来生成一个复合格雷编码激励扫描线。该图示出了每个发射信号与多个格雷码配对。所述系统被设置使得配对交替(G1、G2、G1、G2、G1、G2等)。作为示例,查看上方三个波束。通过将来自格雷码2的一对中的一个成员和格雷码1的一对中的两个成员进行相加来产生第一扫描线。格雷码2的一对的成员是中心线,其中,格雷码1的一对邻近格雷码2的一对的成员。中心波束(格雷码2)的权重是1.0,而邻近波束(格雷码对G1和G1)的权重每个是0.5。以这种方式,来自格雷码1的一对彼此相消,仅留下格雷码2的成员的中心线波束,由此为扫描线1去除旁瓣并为所述扫描线消除运动伪影。

执行对所述回声的脉冲压缩,包括对接收到的回声进行加权并且将奇数的加权回声进行相加,其中,中央回声被给予1.0的权重值并且其邻域的加权和构成格雷对的互补回声;并且
根据所压缩的回声来产生图像。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括显示所述图像。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中,格雷码是通过在所述格雷码上应用双相窗来产生的。
4.根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中,所述双相窗是双相矩形窗、双相汉明窗、双相汉宁窗和双相巴特利特窗中的一个。
