Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Mottenschutzmittels.
Es ist bekannt, dass das Kondensations- produkt von Isatin mit Phenol ganz spezifische Wirkungen auf die Darmschleimhaut ausübt. Als Diacetylester stellt es ein viel gebrauchtes Abführmittel dar. Sollte es ge- lingen, die Giftigkeit eines solehen Sonden- sationsproduktes durch entsprechende Substitution zu erhöhen und zugleich Wasser loslichkeit, sowie gute Affinität zur animali schen Faser zu erreichen, so wären die Be dingungen für die Herstellung eines wirk- samen Mottenschutzmittels gegeben. Das Zu- sammentreffen aller guten Eigenschaften auf dieser Grundlage war jedoch nieht vorauszusehen.
Es wurde nun gefunden, dass man zu einem hochwirksamen Mottenschutzmittel gelangen kann, wenn man Isatin-5-sulfosäure und Thymol mit Hilfe eines sauren Kondensationsmittels zur Reaktion bringt. Das entstandene Produkt ist ein weiBes, gut wasserlösliches Pulver, das aus saurer wässeriger Lösung auf tierische Fasern farblos aufzieht und dann dem Wasch-und Walkprozess aus- gezeichnet widersteht. In dieser Weise vorbehandelte Wolle ist gegen den Angriff der Mottenlarven vollkommen geschützt.
Beispiel:
125 Teile 80% ige Schwefelsaure, 14 Teile Thymol, 10 Teile Isatin-5-sulfosäure werden bei 50 bis 60 sechs Stunden geriihrt. Die Kondensation geht rasch von statten. Nach Prüfung des Endpunktes der Reaktion wird auf Eis gegossen und so viel Wasser zn- gegeben, bis der gebiidete Niederschlag heiss in Lösung geht. Die Lösung wird mit etwas Tierkohle gekocht, abfiltriert und erkalten gelassen, wobei sich das Kondensationspro- dukt in Form der freien Sulfosäure ausscheidet.
PATENTANSPRUCH :
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Motten- schutzmittels, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Isatin-5-sulfosäure und Thymol mit Hilfe eines sauren Kondensationsmittels zur Reaktion bringt. Das entstandene Produkt ist ein weisses, gut wasserlösliches Pulver, das aus saurer wässeriger Lösung auf tierische Fasern farblos aufzieht und dann dem Waseh-und Walkprozess ausgezeichnet wi dersteht. In dieser Weise vorbehandelte Wolle ist gegen den Angriff der Mottenlarven vollkommen geschützt.

Example:
125 parts of 80% sulfuric acid, 14 parts of thymol, 10 parts of isatin-5-sulfonic acid are stirred for 50 to 60 hours for six hours. The condensation takes place quickly. After the end point of the reaction has been checked, it is poured onto ice and water is added until the precipitate which has formed dissolves hot. The solution is boiled with some animal charcoal, filtered off and allowed to cool, the condensation product separating out in the form of the free sulfonic acid.
