تقرير مختبر ديناميك الحرارة2

This document discusses an experiment to determine the flash temperature and combustion temperature of various oils. The flash temperature is the lowest temperature at which oil ignites briefly, while the combustion temperature is the lowest temperature at which oil ignites and continues burning for 5 seconds. The experiment involves heating oil samples in bowls and using a thermometer and gas burners to slowly raise the temperature until flashing and combustion occur. Factors that affect flash temperature and combustion temperature include oil viscosity, purity, and type. The results provide information about oil performance and specifications.

Name of the experiment:
Determination of flash temperature and combustion temperature for a
number of oils.

What is oil?
The oil is a fluid block that takes up the space it occupies.

What are the benefits of using oils?

Reduced friction ease of movement of machine parts.
Reducing the temperature between the contact parts in mean used for the
purpose of cooling, has an economic benefit in increasing the life of the
parts, in mean reducing wear and corrosion.

What does oil efficiency depend on?

1.The purity of the oil and its impurity free
2.The amount of the viscosity the temperature of combustion and flashing it
*Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of fluid particles to shear forces and
angular deformation resulting from the strength of cohesion between
molecules.

The oils are divided according to its viscosity into three types:
1.Light lutiricants : They are used in a simple combustion place such as a
sewing machine and have a viscosity of SAE 10
2. Medium lubricatfits :They are used in internal combustion machines such
as cars and have a viscosity of SAE 30
3. Heavy lubricatfits : used in self-combustion machines and their viscosity
ranges between 40-60 SAE
The device used in the experiment :
1.included oil bowls.
2. Lily thermometer.
3. Gas source.
4. Heat source.
5.Two gas burners (fixed and mobile).
6.timer.

When we do an experiment, a known amount of oil is placed in a listed

advertiser container to find out the level of the oil with a mercury
thermometer to limit the oil temperature. Under the bowl there is a heat
source to heat the oil, with a gas source that uses the works of the two fixed
and moving stoves. When the oil starts heating slowly in the bowl, vapors
from it will rise. In close periods, the flame of the moving flame is rounded
from the surface of the oil containing the oil vapors until a distinct flash has
occurred, and the prior knowledge of the approximate temperature at which
the flash occurs, reduces the frequency of the flame approximation
frequently, so the flash temperature can be defined by.
The flash temperature:
is the lowest temperature at which the oil ignites (does not continue burning)
and there are two types of flashes are
1.open flash in an open space (open container)
2.closed flash close flash Determine the flash in a closed space such as
combustion machines.
A flash and when you continue to heat the oil, the oil will burn at a certain
temperature called the combustion temperature, which varies from oil to oil

Combustion temperature:
the lowest temperature at which the oil ignites and lasts for five seconds.
Scientific calculations:

Discussion:

1.What is the use of setting the flash temperature?

1-to set the oil purity percentage
2-to reduce the approach of oil to this point.

2. What depends on the efficacy of the oil?

• viscosity
• combustion temperature and flash. Oil Purity
• The manufacturer
selects the oil according to the air temperature the vehicle is used in. Today's
oils contain additives designed To improve oil performance capabilities.
3. What are the necessary conditions for a flash to occur?
1.Mounting fumes
2.Moving flame
3. The oil temperature is less than the combustion temperature.

4. What is the use of using oil in combustion machines and reducing

friction?
*Ease of movement of machine parts.
*Reducing the temperature between the contact parts.
*used for the purpose of cooling.
*It has an economic benefit in increasing the life of the parts in the sense of
reducing wear and occurring of rust.

5-Factors affecting the experience?

* Oil viscosity
* The workplace of the surrounding experiment (external)
* The quality of the oil used
* The device used in the experiment
* Accuracy of results * Precision thermometer used
6. Plot the graph between the viscosity and flash temperature. Graphic
Graph between the viscosity and penetration temperature.
