Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and practices into psychological theory and practice.
 2. As introduced by Santiago (1977) and Torres (1982, 171), the concept of pakapa-kapa has brought a significant contribution in the field

 1. Sa iyong palagay, naging malaki ba ang naging kontribusyon ni Virgilio G. Enriquez, ang tinaguriang "Ama ng
Sikolohiyang Pilipino?" Ipaliwang ang iyong sagot.
 SAGOT:
 PAGPAPALIWANAG:
Virgilio G. Enriquez made a significant contribution to the field of Filipino Psychology. He is the one who
started and led the Development of the theory of Filipino Psychology, which aims to pay attention to the
experience, perspectives, and customs of Filipinos in explaining their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Enriquez
believed traditional Western psychology needed to capture Filipinos' unique experiences and values fully. He
argued that psychology should be rooted in the cultural context of the Philippines, taking into account its history,
language, and social norms.
One of his most significant contributions is the Development of indigenous concepts and methods:
Enriquez developed several indigenous concepts and techniques that are now widely used in Filipino psychology.
These include the kapwa concept, which emphasizes Filipinos' interconnectedness and shared identity, and the
pakikipagkapwa method, which emphasizes the importance of social interaction and relationships in
understanding Filipino behavior. Through his work, Enriquez helped establish psychology as a legitimate field of
study in the Philippines and inspired other Filipino psychologists to pursue more culturally sensitive research
relevant to the Filipino experience. As a result, he is widely recognized as a pioneer in developing Filipino
psychology.
