governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organization in April 2019 with its long
experience as a team (Youth Council) advocating for the rights of communities
especially children and women affected by conflicts, and humanitarian crisis in fragile
settings.
APBHO’s most peacebuilding efforts focus on high-level negotiations; the peace
curriculum of the Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization focuses on the
grassroots of Afghan society. It aims to shift repressive gender norms and equip citizens
with the skills to resolve interpersonal conflict non-violently.
Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization (APBHO) strategically implements
sustainable economic empowerment/asset creation, time-critical emergency responses
with various commodities including Food and Non-Food Items, research, advocacy, and
promotion of peace projects with a cross-cutting focus on youth and women.
Job Description:
Purpose of this position: The Agriculture Specialist is supposed to report to the Project
Manager and take daily responsibility for the agricultural related activities of the Project.
S/he will communicate and supervise agriculture assignments of the project with project
staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Will assume the main responsibility for the agriculture, and the Capacity Building
Components of the Project, ensure timely preparation of annual work plans, targets and
outputs
Make sure that the gender is mainstreamed in all agriculture activities, for ensuring the
implementation of all gender targets and the inclusion of activities of interest for women
such as vegetable cultivation, processing, storage, etc.
Facilitate and participate in designing of good agriculture practices, curricula, training
manuals and extension methodologies and modalities.
Represent the project to relevant government departments, maintain regular contact and
build good relations with stakeholders and regularly update them on the progress of the
project implementation and challenges;
Facilitate the process of project registration and coordination with the relevant line
departments at the city and district level;
Assist the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in the design and implementation of the
monitoring and evaluation strategy for Agriculture activities of the project.
Participate in the relevant sub-cluster meetings and ensure active representation of
APBHO;
Maintain regular communication with community members, and other humanitarian
actors in the project locations to ensure coherence and quality delivery of the project.
Will assist in identification of staff and beneficiary training needs and ensure that all
training events are organized in a manner which are in harmony with the understanding
and perception level of participants/beneficiary
Undertake regular visits to the Project area and develop mechanisms for participatory
monitoring of activities.
In consultation with the MEAL manager, develop the Indicator Tracking Table for the
project and track progress against the indicators;
Ensure the adequate and timely preparation of quarterly and annual progress reports.

Qualifications and Requirements: The Agriculture Specialist will have a Bachelor in
Agriculture, Agriculture Economics or Agronomy, Master’s degree will be a plus.
Shall have at least 10 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in
agriculture development projects.
Working experience with community-based interventions particularly with Village Based
Seed Enterprises and Farmers’ projects will be an advantage.
Familiarity with government and donors reporting systems is a key prerequisite.
