FAMOUS

PEOPLE WITH
LEARNING
DISABILITIES.
Anastasia Kheladze
INTRODUCTION 2

Learning disabilities can be difficult to manage, but

they don’t necessarily impact a person’s chances of
success. Many celebrities and famous figures from
history struggled with learning disabilities, but the
disabilities may have been instrumental in shaping
their perspectives and helping them find the
willpower to achieve their goals. Here’s a list of
famous people with learning disabilities, including
a description of their disabilities and their claims to
fame. They can be a source of inspiration. Today
we are going to talk about diseases like dyslexia
and dysgraphia.
.WHAT IS DYSLEXIA?
Dyslexia, previously known as word blindness, is a learning disability
that affects either reading or writing. Different people are affected to
different degrees. Problems may include difficulties in spelling words,
reading quickly, writing words, "sounding out" words in the head,
pronouncing words when reading aloud and understanding what one
reads. Often these difficulties are first noticed at school. The difficulties
are involuntary, and people with this disorder have a normal desire to
learn. People with dyslexia have higher rates of attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), developmental language disorders, and
difficulties with numbers.
.WHAT IS
DYSGRAPHIA?

Dysgraphia is a neurological disorder and learning disability

that concerns written expression, which affects the ability to
write. It is a specific learning disability (SLD) as well as a
transcription disability, meaning that it is a writing disorder
associated with impaired handwriting, orthographic coding
and finger sequencing (the movement of muscles required to
write). It often overlaps with other learning disabilities such as
speech impairment, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
(ADHD) or developmental coordination disorder (DCD).

.TODAY'S MAIN CHARACTERS
Dyslexia
Often considered to be one of the most influential painters of the 20th century,
Pablo Picasso was a prolific artist who managed to change the way the world
looked at art. Through styles like cubism, he would often use different
perspectives, to portray the world around him. What were often considered
pieces inspired by his imagination were actually very real to Picasso, and
likely reflected how his dyslexic mind perceived letters and words.
As a child, Picasso was often considered to be a bad student, and was
eventually described as being “reading blind”. In the time he spent banished
PABLO PICASSO from classrooms, he would sketch. He enrolled in Barcelona’s School of Fine
Arts aged just 14, and went on to create some of the most iconic works of art
of all time.

Dysgraphia
Over 100 years ago, seminal crime writer Agatha Christie introduced the world to the
famous detective Hercule Poirot, launching her career as one of the most successful
authors of all time. Throughout her illustrious career, she wrote 66 novels, 14
collections of stories, and the world’s longest-running play. Her books have sold over
a billion copies.
The last thing you might expect such a successful writer to have is dysgraphia, a
specific learning difficulty that causes difficulties with writing, spelling and
arithmetic. Christie in fact found writing and spelling to be very challenging, and
AGATHA CHRISTIE even struggled to balance her chequebook. In spite of this, she learned how to read
years before she was expected to, and started writing stories at the age of 11. Her
reading skills and ability to develop complex and detailed plots were second to none,
and she got around her difficulties with handwriting by dictating most of her novels.

SUMMARY
All in all, despite their limited skills they have tried, they never gave
up and they have done what they wanted with all their hearth. So if
you want anything else, there is nothing you can't do.
